Baidu and Lyft have joined Waymo and the Uber/Wayve partnership in a bid to put driverless cars on the streets of London.
The Baidu/Lyft pairing have started testing robotaxis in an area confined to the borough of Brent.
All the cars have a safety driver in them. Fee-paying public rides are not expected to start till next year subject to agreement from TfL.

A few dozen electric Ford Mustangs with a safety driver will be used to operate the service.
Public interest sign-ups to the take a ride are currently open via the Uber app.
The goal is to progress to fully driverless driving (SAE Level 4) once a safety track record is established.
Waymo has had a test fleet of roughly 100 robotaxis using Jaguar iPace cars operating in 19 London boroughs since late 2025.
Last April Waymo started autonomous driving with safety drivers. A full commercial robotaxi launch is targeted for this year depending on TfL approval.
